No. 20 Rifle Breaks School Smallbore Record; Finish 2nd at VMI

LEXINGTON, Va. – The 20th-ranked University of North Georgia rifle team set a new school-record in smallbore at Saturday’s event at Virginia Military Institute, finishing second in a field of five teams, and placing first among the four Southern Conference teams at the event with an aggregate score of 4581.

Sophomore Dakota Spivey was the top individual finisher at the event with an aggregate of 1155, 12 points better than Morehead State’s Karly Potts.

SMALLBORE
Freshman Tobin Sanctuary led the Nighthawk effort in smallbore shooting a personal best 574. Ruthanne Conner also shot a 574 in the event however Sanctuary held the tiebreaker over his teammate. Spivey posted a 568 and Jared Rice added a 563 to round out the team score at 2279, a new school record in the event.

AIR RIFLE
It was once again Spivey leading the way in air rifle with a 587, the best score at the event. Rice followed with a 577, with Andrew Abernathy and David Turner rounding out the team score of 2303 shooting a 571 and 567, respectively.
