DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Lumpkin County authorities have charged Jackie Jones, 58, of Dawsonville, with aggravated assault, aggravated assault and battery and false imprisonment, all felonies, and misdemeanor battery, following a report of a family violence incident at 7980 Dawsonville Highway on Christmas Day.

Glenda McDaniel Jones, 57, called 911 to report the incident. When Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office deputy Jeffrey Moore and Cpl. Kyle Rosso arrived, she advised them her sister, Tina Melissa McDaniel, 51, was in a back room having a seizure. Lumpkin County EMS arrived and transported McDaniel to Northside Hospital Forsyth.

Jones said her ex-husband had been drinking, and as they argued, he slapped her in the face, grabbed her around the throat, threatened to kill them and then fired a shot from a handgun before fleeing the scene. Moore observed a bullet hole located in the wall behind where McDaniel had reportedly been sitting. He also observed a handgun laying on a nearby table and a spent bullet casing on the floor.

While deputies were speaking to Glenda, she received a call from her ex-husband. When Moore took the phone, Jones said he was at the Amicalola Falls Lodge in Dawsonville. Moore and deputies from the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office then located him and took him into custody without resistance.

Jones was transported to Lumpkin County Detention Center where he is being held on $32,700 bond.
