George Edwards, age 79, of Mendenhall, MS (formerly of Dahlonega, GA) passed away on May 31, 2016.
George was the son of the late Homer and Leona Edwards. He was also preceded in death by brothers, John L. Edwards and Ray Edwards; sisters, Nellie Fae Edwards, Annie Kate Wigley, and Clellan Crow.
He is survived by his wife, Sallie V. Edwards, Mendenhall, MS; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Walter Turnage, Columbia, MS; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Gladdis Edwards, Suwanee, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Corene and James Jones; sisters, Ethel Lou Jones and Jean Beck, all of Dahlonega, GA. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for George and scheduled for 4 PM Saturday June 4, 2016 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.
Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.
Interment is scheduled for 2 PM Sunday June 5, 2016 in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home on Saturday June 4, 2016 from 2 PM until time of service.
