DAHLONEGA | The University of North Georgia women’s soccer team is headed for the Sunshine State today to face off against two Division I programs this weekend in preparation for the 2016 season. The Nighthawks will take on Jacksonville on Friday at 7 p.m., before traveling across town to play North Florida on Sunday at Noon.
While matches will count as exhibitions for North Georgia the two interdivision contests will be regular season matches for both Jacksonville and North Florida, with Friday’s match serving as the season opener for the Dolphins.
Friday night’s North Georgia-Jacksonville match will be broadcast live on ESPN3 with former JU standout Kaitlyn Bassett and Chris Dittmer on the call. It will mark the first-ever appearance for the women’s soccer program on ESPN’s digital platform.
Sunday, the Nighthawks will head to the campus of UNF to take on former Peach Belt member, North Florida. The game against the Ospreys will air live on the ASUNTV digital platform.
Direct links to watch both games are available on the 2016 Women’s Soccer Schedule page.
UNG will officially open its season on Thursday, September 1, hosting Lees-McRae at 5 p.m., in the first UNG athletic event of the 2016-17 season at the UNG Soccer Complex.
