Mrs. Eva Anne Dowdy: Obituary

Mrs. Eva Anne Dowdy, age 92, of Dahlonega, GA passed away Sunday September 4, 2016 at Gold City Convalescent Center in Dahlonega.

Mrs. Dowdy was born August 18, 1924 and was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was a graduate of Lumpkin County High School and North Georgia College with a Master’s Degree in Education. She was a teacher in the Lumpkin County school system for 27 years. She taught Sunday School for many years in local churches. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Dahlonega.

She was the daughter of the late John Earl and Mattie Mae Anderson and was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Rev. Jewell W. Dowdy; brother, Baby Boy Anderson (died at birth); brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Barbara Anderson.

Mrs. Dowdy is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, John Edward and Helen Anderson, Marietta, GA; sister-in-law’s, Beatrice Loggins and Lois Thompson, of Dahlonega, GA; several nieces and nephews; special nephew, John W. Anderson. A number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dowdy are scheduled for 2 PM Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Monday September 5, 2016 from 5 PM until 8 PM and again on Tuesday from 10 AM until service time.
