Mrs. Pearl Todd Palmer: Obituary

Mrs. Pearl Todd Palmer, age 88, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at her residence following a period of declining health.

Born in Winterville, Georgia on August 10, 1928 to parents Marion N. and Grace Chambers Todd, Mrs. Palmer has been a resident of Dahlonega since 1946. She was a member of Dahlonega Baptist Church and a retired educator with the Lumpkin County School System having retired in 1987 after serving in several capacities over the course of 30 years. She was formerly active with the Lumpkin County Retired Educators Association.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Palmer was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Cecil “V.C.” Palmer, a daughter, Janet Lynn Palmer and brother, William Todd. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; Alice and Dan Walls, Dahlonega, siblings; Louise Mixon, Crowley, Texas, Marion (Cindy) Todd, Gainesville, GA, sister-in-law; Mary Palmer, Stone Mountain, GA, grandchildren; David Walls, Norcross, Georgia, Amanda (Daniel) Wilhelm, Acworth, GA, Todd Walls, Athens, Georgia, great-grandchild, Allyson Wilhelm, Acworth, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September, 11, 2016 at 3pm in the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Hutcheson and Rev. Stephen Gerrells officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 10th from 5 until 8 p.m. at Dahlonega Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dahlonega Baptist Church Building Fund, Eagle Ranch, or the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home.

The family expresses their gratitude to Belinda Hansard and Pat Brackett, caregivers and friends, for their dedication and concern for Mrs. Palmer’s wellbeing. They also thank the staff of Hospice of Northeast Georgia for the excellent care Mrs. Palmer received.
