Shirley May Cochran: Obituary

Shirley May Cochran, age 87, a long-time resident of Murrayville, GA passed away on September 26, 2016.

She was the daughter of the late Colonel Henry and Catherine Rickenback Stringer.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Cochran; son, Philip Cochran; brother, Allen Stringer; and daughters-in-law, Debbie Cochran and Jackie Cochran.

Shirley is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Rhonda Cochran, Murrayville, GA, Stanley and Brenda Cochran, Murrayville, GA, Tony and Jeannie Cochran, Hoschton, GA, Greg and Julie Cochran, Gainesville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Ricky Brackett, Dahlonega, GA; brothers, Bob Stringer and Bruce Stringer, both of Murrayville, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Ann Stringer, Mt. Olive, NC; and sister, Carol Housley, Dahlonega, GA.  Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Shirley are scheduled for 2 PM Thursday September, 29, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2, Murrayville, GA (Lumpkin County).

Rev. Steven Gerrells, Rev. Les Fuller, Rev. Kevin Woody, Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Rev. Keith York will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2 Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Wednesday September 28, 2016 from 3 PM to 5 PM and 6 PM to 9 PM and again on Thursday September 29, 2016 from 11 AM until time of service.  Shirley will lie in state from 1:30 to 2 PM at the church on Thursday September 29, 2016.
