Advance Voting in Presidential Race Begins Monday

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Voters in one of the most bitter and divisive presidential campaigns in recent history can begin casting their ballots for either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton when Advanced Voting in the General Election begins in Lumpkin County on Monday.

All Advanced Voting will take place at the Lumpkin County Elections Office, 56 Short Street in Dahlonega.

Starting Mon. Oct. 17 the hours will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 pm. Saturday voting will be available on October 22 and 29 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m on Oct. 22 only.

Starting Mon. Oct. 24, the hours will be Mon. through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Then, on the final week of Advanced Voting voters can cast a ballot Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

All precincts will be open on Election Day, Nov. 8 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

“For a typical presidential election, we generally get a turnout of between 70 and 80 percent of registered voters so we expect at least that,” said Elections Supervisor Ashley Peck.

Considering the anger and bitterness generated by Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton, the turnout could far surpass those expectations.
