DAHLONEGA, Ga. – A Dawson County man charged with misdemeanor battery has been released on $3,500 bond following an apparent road rage incident in Lumpkin County last month.
Robin Jason Venable, 60, turned himself in to Lumpkin County authorities last week after he and Shane Anderson Grant, 44, were involved in a fight outside Vulcan Rock Plant on Red Oak Flats Road.
According to the police report Grant, who was driving a UPS truck, pulled out of a driveway directly into the path of the dump truck Venable was driving, barely missing a collision. Venable allegedly followed Grant when he turned into the Vulcan driveway and began cursing at him. Grant said he took out his cell phone and began to film the incident and Venable knocked the phone out of his hand. He said he then exited his truck and struck Venable who went to his truck and retrieved a metal bar and struck him in the head and leg. Grant said he wrestled the bar away from Venable and went inside to call 911.
Grant was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville where his injuries were believed to be non-life threatening.
No arrest were made at the time due to conflicting accounts given by the two parties.
