Mr. Dorsey Gibson: Obituary

Mr. Dorsey Gibson, age 79, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016.

Dorsey was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was retired from the Burlington/Mohawk Pine Tree Plant in Dahlonega. Dorsey was a member and deacon at Siloam Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

Dorsey was the son of the late James Raleigh Gibson and Mattie Ione Dowdy Gibson and he was also preceded in death by a brother, James Ernest Gibson; and sisters, Fannie Lois Stutzman and Bertie Mae Cain.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gladys McClure Gibson, Dahlonega, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Dean Harris, Dahlonega, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert C. and Virginia Gibson, Dahlonega, GA, Roy Lee and Lois Gibson, Dahlonega, GA, and Stan Gibson, Tucker, GA; grandchildren, Greg Harris, Ashley and Chris Bogue, Kelly and Brian Eads; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Bailey, Samuel, Autumn, Gabriel, Elizabeth, and Natalie. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Dorsey are scheduled for 2 PM Monday, October 31, 2016 at Siloam Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

Rev. Tony Allison and Rev. Steven Mulkey will officiate.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Sunday October 30, 2016 from 2 PM until 9 PM and again on Monday, October 31, 2016 from 9 AM until time of service.
