DAHLONEGA, Ga- The University of North Georgia women’s basketball team extends its undefeated record to 5-0 on the season by sailing past the visiting Wolves of West Georgia, Tuesday night in Dahlonega.

Senior Kelsey Hutchins wasted no time getting the ball rolling for the Nighthawks, scoring the first basket of the game just 16 seconds in. Hutchins’ basket was countered by West Georgia’s A’Kia Harris, tying the game until the next Nighthawk basket which would solidify the North Georgia lead for the remainder of the first half. The Nighthawk half was highlighted by a 20-point lead, with 13 of those coming from Hutchins.

Hutchins and the rest of the Nighthawks would carry the momentum into the second half, retaining possession of a commanding lead, highest at 25 points, with 5:35 in the game.

NOTES
– Senior forward Kelsie Hutchins controlled the score line for the Nighthawks with 21 point, matching her previous season high in the 84-65 Nighthawk victory at Erskine on Nov. 12. In addition to her 21 points, Hutchins was able to snag eight rebounds on the night.

– With the win the Nighthawks improve to 4-2 all time against West Georgia.

The Nighthawks will host Embry-Riddle (Fla.) on Saturday, Nov. 26. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m., in Memorial Hall.

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The University of North Georgia men’s basketball team fell to Limestone, 73-61, Tuesday evening in Gaffney. The Nighthawks slip to 2-3 on the young season following the loss.

The Saints jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first three and a half minutes of the game and although UNG would pull within one point on two occasions late in the first half, Limestone never relinquished the advantage, holding the lead wire-to-wire.

NOTES
– Shaquan Cantrell and Tyler Dominy led the Nighthawks in scoring with 15 points each. Freshman Duke Robinson added 14 points off the bench.

– Dominy led UNG off the glass with nine rebounds on the night, just one short of a double-double.

– Limestone improves its advantage in the all-time series against North Georgia, now standing at 5-2 all-time against the Nighthawks. The last win for UNG in the series came in Gaffney in 2014.

NEXT UP
The Nighthawks will break for Thanksgiving before returning to action on Wednesday, Nov. 30, when they will play host to Queens (N.C.). Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
