Mr. James “Paul” Burton: Obituary

James “Paul” Burton, age 91, of Dahlonega, GA passed away on Friday December 16, 2016.

Paul was born in Clarkesville, GA on February 21, 1925; moving to Dahlonega in 1984 where he was a poultry farmer for many years.  He will always be remembered for his love of dancing, fishing and coon hunting.

He was the son of the late James Grant and Dora York Burton and was also preceded in death by his wives, Ruby Martin Burton and Lorena Cunningham Burton; daughter, Mary Bailey; son, Ralph Burton; grandson, Stevie Parker and stepson, Johnny Benedict.

Paul is survived by his sons, Phillip Burton, Dahlonega, GA, Frankie Burton, Lyman, SC, Cecil Burton, Greer, SC, Billy Robinson, Gainesville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Marsha Burton, Dahlonega, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Jackie Parker, Gainesville, GA, Cathy and Wesley Bramblett, Homer, GA; sisters, Ruth Trotter, Cornelia, GA, Eva Mae Garner, Cornelia, GA, Pearl Taylor, Cleveland, GA, Patricia Kranatz, Demorest, GA; grandchildren, Scott Parker, Kimberly Southers, Becky Burton, Bradley Burton, Brandon Burton, Ruby Griffin, Missy Williams, Jerry Ward, Billy Burton, Ruby Burton, Teresa Burton, Stepheny Davis, Doug Flanagan, John Paul Armstrong, Dustin Burton, David Burton, Linda Campbell, Randy Burton, Cody Robinson, Rodney Robinson; and special former daughter-in-law, Kay Reeves, Dawsonville, GA.

Numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Paul are scheduled for 1 PM Monday December 19, 2016 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.

Rev. Danny O’Kelly and Rev. Dennis Taylor will officiate.

Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Cornelia, GA.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Sunday December 18, 2016 from 4 PM until 9 PM and again on Monday December 19, 2016 from 10 AM until service time.
