Minnie Belle Stargel Patton: Obituary

Minnie Belle Stargel Patton, age 83, of Dahlonega, GA passed away on Tuesday December 27, 2016 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Minnie Belle, a lifelong resident of Dahlonega, GA was a member of Siloam Baptist Church.  She will always be remembered as a loving teacher who taught for many years at the elementary schools throughout Lumpkin County.

She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Bertha Hughes Stargel.  She is also preceded in death by her husband, Jay Patton; brother, Grady Stargel; sister, Mae Stargel Abee; and nephew, Jerry Abee.

Minnie Belle is survived by her nieces; Barbara Abee (Douglas) Saxton, Brenda Fitts Abee; nephew, Roy Abee, Jr.; grandnieces, Kim Abee, Angela Saxton (Beau) Sheppard; grandnephews, Keith (Heather) Abee, Chris (Amy) Saxton, and Eric (Amanda) Saxton.  Numerous great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Minnie Belle are scheduled for 3 PM Friday December 30, 2016 at Cane Creek Baptist Church that was established in the 1800’s by Ms. Patton’s great-grandfather, J.J. Stargel.

Rev. Douglas Saxton will officiate.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA on Thursday December 29, 2016 from 6 PM to 8 PM.
