Mrs. Velva Sisk Bruce: Obituary

Velva Sisk Bruce, age 75, a lifelong resident of Dahlonega, GA passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

Velva enjoyed spending time with her family, grandkids and friends, tending to her vegetable garden and fishing.

Velva was the daughter of the late Riley Sisk and Lona Bessie Grindle Sullens.  She is also preceded in death her husband, Barney Claudis Bruce; daughter, Karen Harkins; step-father, James “Babe” Sullens; and brothers Sylvester Sisk and Sherman “Chub” Sullens.

Velva is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Nicky Bruce, Dahlonega, GA, Ricky and Tammy Bruce, Dawsonville, GA, Scott Bruce, Norcross, GA; daughter, Sharon Bruce and her fiancé, Mark McDonald, Ellenwood, GA; brothers, Tommy Sisk, Dawsonville, GA, Herman Sullens, Clermont, GA; sisters, Virginia Gibson, Dahlonega, GA, Lucy Carrier, Burnt Mountain, GA, Joan Stephens, Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Jessie Harkins, Kaylin Harkins, Amber Bailey, Emilie Bruce, Niki Ward, Bryan Bruce, Ryan Bruce; grandson and caregiver, John Bruce; numerous great-grandchildren; and special friends, Rolondo Guzman, Zach Bailey, and Kelly Wright.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Northeast Georgia for all their love and care for Velva.

Funeral services for Velva are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.

Rev. Andy Caldwell and Rev. Timmy Sullens will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 6 PM until 9 PM; Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 11 AM until 9 PM, and Friday, April 14, 2017 from 11 AM until time of service.
