Verlyn Dean Head: Obituary

Verlyn Dean Head, 74, of Dahlonega passed away on April 18, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical center following an extended illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ora Head; sister, Margie and Joe Terrell; and brother, Eugene Head.

Verlyn was self-employed for many years. He was saved and a member of Yahoola Baptist Church.  He enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing with his friends.  His pride and joy was his grandchildren and the love of his life, Betty.  They were happily married for fifty seven years.

Verlyn is survived by his wife Betty Head; his two children, son, Terry (Staci) Head and daughter Diane (Daniel) Reeves both of Dahlonega; his sister Louise (Raymond) Cain of Dahlonega; brother Edward Leon (Phyillis) Head of Longview, Washington; grandchildren Katie Reeves and her fiancé Cory Buice, Joseph and Anna Head. Numerous other nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled at 2pm on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Dahlonega Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kris Butler, Rev. Kyle Savage, and Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.  Interment will follow at Yahoola Baptist Church Cemetery in Dahlonega.

Family will receive friends on Thursday April 20, 2017 from 6pm until 9pm.
