Claud Fortner age 98 of Dahlonega passed away on July 24th, 2017 following an extended illness. Mr. Fortner was born in Hall County to William Fortner and Eliza Crow Fortner. He was a member of Cavender Creek Baptist church where he was the oldest living member. Mr. Fortner retired from Prime Pump and loved to fish and hunt.
Mr. Fortner is preceded by his parents, his wife Pearl Pierce Fortner, son Herbert Fortner, 7 brothers and one sister.
Claud is survived by his daughter Jean (Don) Grizzle, brother; Jack (Joyce) Fortner, sister Annie Lou (Jimmy) Truelove; grandchildren Rodney (Kelly) Grizzle, Jimmy (Brenda) Fortner, Johnny (Tammy) Fortner; 3 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday July 27th, 2017 at 3pm at Cavender Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Rev. Steven Adams will officiate. Family will receive friends on Wednesday July 26th, 2017 from 3pm until 8pm at Dahlonega Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Cavender Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
