Mrs. Helen Leah Buchanan: Obituary

Mrs. Helen Leah Buchanan, age 92, of Dahlonega, passed away at her home with her daughters on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.

Mrs. Buchanan was born in Butler, PA on November 6, 1924 to the late Robert Lee and Nancy Barnes Swartzlander.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ovid Lee Buchanan; and sister Florence Dripps.  Mrs. Buchanan has lived in Hobe Sound, FL. She has been a residence of Dahlonega since 2006. Mrs. Buchanan was a homemaker and a member of Dahlonega Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Buchanan and Brenda Buchanan; sister, Mary Katherine Heidler; Nephew and niece, Gregory and Julie Fullwood, all of Dahlonega; nephew Howard Fullwood, Port St. Lucie, FL; and niece, Melinda Fullwood, Dothan, AL.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 20, 2017 starting at 2 P.M. in Dahlonega Baptist Church sanctuary. A memorial service for Mrs. Buchanan will follow at 3:00 P.M. The Rev. Bill Hutcheson will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to Dahlonega Baptist Church, 234 Hawkins Street, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
