Lillian Hughes, age 88, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away at Union County Nursing Home on Thursday, September 14, 2017.
Lillian was born on March 3, 1929 in Amite, Louisiana to the late James S. and Omatine (Inkster) Hughes. She loved to play gin rummy, although some would say she cheated a little. She also enjoyed the Reader’s Digest and completing crossword puzzles. Her passion however was gardening, she loved her flowers. Lillian was preceded in death by her son Richard Burton.
She is survived by daughters, Rhonda Burton and Rochelle Burton; sons, Ronald Burton, Raymond Burton and James Franklin Anthony; six grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held at Union County Nursing Home on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 3:30 PM. The family will have a memorial service in Dahlonega, Georgia at Banister Funeral Home on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Banister Funeral Home of Hiawassee, Georgia in charge of arrangements.
