Stringer unopposed in Republican primary but will face Democrat Gordon in November election

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Qualifying ended at noon today (Mar. 9). The field is now set for the May 22 General Primary election.

Incumbent District 3 County Commissioner Rhett Stringer is unopposed in the Republican primary, but he will face a challenge from Democrat Peri Lyn Gordon in November. Gordon is the only Democrat to qualify in that race.

There is a crowded field of five candidates in the race for District 4 Board of Commissioners. Mark Zeller will face Jeff Moran, a Junior ROTC instructor at Lumpkin County High School, and Clarence Grindle, a barber, in the Republican primary. In the Democrat primary, innkeeper Dennis Hoover will face Teresa B. Gay, an IT systems analyst.

Incumbent District 4 Board of Education member Lynn Sylvester, Chairman Bobby Self and District 2 member Craig Poore are unopposed.

The state level race has incumbent District 9 State Representative Kevin Tanner (R), of Dawsonville, pitted against Mark Hajduk (R), of Cumming.
