Mr. Tommy Jay Carney, age 82, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
Mr. Carney was born in Blairsville, GA on March 18, 1936. He is preceded in death by his parents Jethro and Ethel Dover Carney, first wife Martha Carney, second wife Charlsea Mason Carney, step daughter Nancy Maness, step son Ricky Duckworth, and step son Larry Duckworth. Mr. Carney was a faithful member of Enon Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughters and sons in law Linda and Phil Lingerfelt, Dahlonega; Connie and David Samples, Dawsonville; step sons and step daughters in law Terry and Karlene Duckworth, Acworth; Gary and Judy Duckworth, Dahlonega; step daughter in law Sheila Duckworth, Monroe; step son in law Everett Maness, Dahlonega; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday, April 13, 2018 at the chapel of Banister Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Abernathy and the Rev. Jason Moon will officiate. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Blairsville, GA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
