Mrs. Dorothy Davis Carpenter, age 91, of Dahlonega passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Foothills Personal Care Home following an extended illness.

Born in Bryson City, North Carolina to parents Leslie Vaughan and Mary Edna Parrish Davis, Dorothy had lived in Dahlonega since 1950. She was employed with Lumpkin County DFACS for twenty-five years and served as a volunteer with NOA, Community Helping Place and Dahlonega Baptist Church where she was also a member. She enjoyed travel having made it to forty-four of the fifty United States as well as to England, Switzerland, Canada and Mexico.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Carpenter. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Dean and Anne Carpenter and daughters, Mary Susan Cheatham and Nancy Carpenter, all of Dahlonega, grandsons; David, John and Robert Cheatham, brother and sister-in-law, Leslie Max and Ann Davis of Gainesville. Five great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Dahlonega Baptist Church. Rev. Bill Hutcheson will officiate with interment to follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 24^th from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from noon until 1:30 p.m. at Dahlonega Funeral Home.
