UNG tennis teams bring home ITA regional awards

TEMPE, Ariz. – The 2019 ITA NCAA Division II men’s and women’s regional award winners were announced on Wednesday, and the University of North Georgia tennis teams were well represented on the winners lists.

Ryan Gaskin was named the Southeast Region’s Player to Watch, making him the second player in program history to earn the recognition. Hugues Renaud was named the Most Improved Senior and is also the second player in program history to earn the award. The men’s team also earned the ITA Community Service Award.

On the women’s side, Holly Bennett was named the Most Improved Senior, marking the first time in program history that a player has been given the recognition on the women’s side. Assistant coach Marcy Huck was named the women’s southeast region Assistant Coach of the Year and is the second coach in program history on the women’s side to earn the award.

UNG’s women will take on Queens (N.Y.) on Wednesday, May 22, in the round of 16 at noon.
