Mrs. Lena Mae Gaddis, age 82, of Dahlonega passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019.
Mrs. Gaddis was born in Hall County on April 14, 1937 to the late Henry and Else Dorsey Howard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Jewell “Gabby” Gaddis, sister and brother-in-law Frances and Leo Barrett, sisters Olivia Davis and Lilly Bell Thomas, and brothers Joe Howard and James Howard. Mrs. Gaddis was retired from the University of North Georgia. She loved her job and cared deeply for her colleagues and the students and cadets in her career at the University.
Always waiting to help and wanting to help, Mrs. Gaddis cared deeply for her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother and her grandchildren affectionately called her “Mimi”. Providing for her family was of utmost importance. Mrs. Gaddis loved gardening and canning her fresh vegetables and no one ever left her house hungry. All the advice she gave and the times she listened to her children and grandchildren will be forever cherished. Her response to joys in life was “Wow!”.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law Rev. Andy and Rhonda Gaddis, Cleveland; daughter Lesha Patterson, Dahlonega; daughter and son-in-law Kim and Robby Geist, Rockwell, North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law Sammy and Stephanie Gaddis, Kentucky; grandchildren Chad and Lauren Gaddis, Tommy and Lauren Gaddis, Jeremy Patterson, Nathan Etris, Kendra and Matt Sias, Ashley and Matt Kling, Sam Jr. and Taylor Gaddis, and Alayna Gaddis; great-grandchildren Wyatt Gaddis, Piper Gaddis, and Owen Gaddis; brother and sister-in-law Gordon and Andrea Howard, Dahlonega; brother Wayne Howard, Dahlonega; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Kris Butler will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
