Lumpkin County girls fall to East Hall 46-43 at home

The Lumpkin County girls suffered their first region loss of the year on Friday. They hosted East Hall and lost 46-43. Isabel Davenport lead the way for the Lady Indians with 23 points. Makenzie Caldwell also scored 8 for Lumpkin.

The Lady Indians got off to a slow start. They were down 3-0 for the first couple minutes of the game. They eventually woke up with a 7-0 run and led 8-5 after the first quarter.

East Hall opened the second quarter with back to back threes to take the lead. The rest of the quarter was back and forth until the end. Lumpkin ended on a 10-3 run to take a 20-17 lead into the half.

The second half started off slow scoring-wise. Lumpkin eventually broke it open with a 7-0 run to nearly get their lead to double digits. The Lady Vikings responded with a 4-0 run to end the quarter to cut the lead to 28-24.

After Lumpkin opened the 4th quarter with a bucket, East Hall took the lead with a 10-0 run. Lumpkin responded with a 5-2 run to get the game within a point. The Lady Vikings then hit a pair of free throws to make a three point game. Davenport responded with a big three to tie the game at 38.

The teams traded free throws and baskets, with East Hall having a three point lead late. The Lady Indians fired up a three and got the offensive rebound, which was scored to cut the deficit to one. After another pair of free throws from East Hall, Lumpkin had to go the length of the court to tie. They failed to get a shot off and lost the game 46-43.

The Lady Indians’ next game will be Tuesday at Fannin County at 6 P.M.
