COLUMBUS, Ga. – The No. 15 University of North Georgia women’s basketball team jumped out to a quick 16-point lead on their way to a 72-54 win over Columbus State Wednesday evening.
After the Cougars scored the first basket of the game, UNG answered with an 18-0 run. CSU cut the lead down to as few as six in the latter stages of the first half, but North Georgia answered each time to keep the game at a three-possession game going to halftime.
The Nighthawks quickly stretched the lead back to double figures in the second half, pulling away to as many as 20 down the stretch.
NOTES
– Kara Groover notched a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards, while Julianne Sutton led the way with 19 points. Abbie Franklin contributed 13 points.
– The Nighthawks hit seven three-pointers, while Columbus State did not hit a shot outside of the arc.
– UNG had 22 points off 19 Cougar turnovers.
