Senior Center opening date pushed back

PRESS RELEASE

Lumpkin County Division Director for Community and Employee Services Alicia Davis announced in an email today (July 16) that in light of Governor Brian Kemp’s extension of the shelter in place order for people with certain underlying medical conditions that was issued yesterday, the Phase 2 opening target date for the Lumpkin County Senior Center has been revised.

The new target date for Phase 2 – Resuming On-Site Congregate Activities and Meals, is now set for the week of August 17, 2020. Since the majority of congregate seniors have one or more of the underlying medical conditions listed in Governor Kemp’s Executive Order, county leadership will continue to review this fluid situation to ensure that we are following the governor’s orders as well as offering safe options to this medically fragile group of citizens.
