Lumpkin Co. defeats White Co. in extra innings

The Lumpkin Co. Lady Indians defeated the White Co. Lady Warriors 6-3 on the road on Wednesday night. The game went to nine innings, before #3 Amma Johnson hit a solo home run to break the 3-3 tie and help lead the team to victory. Johnson also hit a two-run RBI double in the top of the 7th inning to help the Lady Indians take a 3-2 lead.

#33 Lauren English started the game off with a solo home run in the first inning to give Lumpkin Co. the 1-0 lead. White Co. responded by scoring two runs in the bottom of the second inning on an error by the Lady Indians. With runners in scoring position, Anna Johnson drove in two runs in the top of the 7th inning to give Lumpkin Co. the lead. However, the Lady Warriors scored in the bottom of the 7th on a sacrifice by Rachel Carter. In the top of the 9th, Johnson hit a solo home run to give Lumpkin Co. the lead. They scored two more runs in the inning to win the game 6-3.

The Lady Indians’ next game will be tomorrow as they play at West Hall high school at 5:30 p.m.
