Lumpkin County man arrested after daughter reports he shot at her

LUMPKIN COUNTY, Ga. — A 49-year-old Dahlonega man and his wife were arrested May 18 after the man’s daughter called 911 to report that her father shot at her with a 9 mm handgun.
Wesley Baxter faces charges of reckless conduct and obstruction of an officer and his wife Susan Baxter, 40, was charged with two counts of obstruction of an officer. Both were transported to Lumpkin County Detention Center.
According to the incident report, when Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office deputy Gabriel Castillo arrived on the scene, Mr. Baxter, was verbally abusive, appeared to be intoxicated and repeatedly refused to obey verbal commands.
When he attempted to handcuff Mr. Baxter, Mrs. Baxter intervened, pushed his hands away and refused to obey the officer’s command to back off.
Once other officers arrived on the scene, the couple was arrested and transported to jail.
