Lumpkin Hires Decorated Gilmer Wrestling Coach Joshua Ghobadpoor

Dahlonega, Georgia – April 14, 2025- The Lumpkin County School System is proud to announce the appointment of Joshua Ghobadpoor as the new head coach for the Lumpkin County High School boys wrestling team, effective for the 2025- 2026 academic year.

 

A distinguished alumnus of Lumpkin County High School, Ghobadpoor brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the community. During his high school wrestling career, he was a four-time state finalist, securing a state championship in his junior year with an undefeated season.

Ghobadpoor’s s coaching career includes a successful tenure at Callaway High School. where he served as head- wrestling coach. Under his leadership, the program saw increased participation and competitiveness. He later transitioned to Gilmer County, continuing to develop young athletes and foster a culture of excellence.

Ghobadpoor expressed enthusiasm about returning to his alma mater: “It’s an honor to come back home and lead the wrestling program that shaped my early years. I’m committed to building on the teams successes and mentoring our athletes both on and off the mat.

The Lumpkin County High School wrestling program has a rich history of excellence, including recent achievements by the girls’ team, which completed a title sweep at the GHSA traditional wrestling meet. The addition of Coach Ghobadpoor is expected to further elevate the boys’ program and continue the tradition of wrestling excellence in Lumpkin County.
