DAHLONEGA, Ga. — A 50-year-old man has been charged in connection with a weekend crash that killed a motorcyclist in Dahlonega.
Georgia State Patrol troopers responded Saturday afternoon to the intersection of Highway 52 and Auraria Road for a collision involving a car and a motorcycle.
Investigators said James Fondren IV was driving a 2019 Toyota 4Runner on Highway 52 and attempted to make a left turn. During the turn, the SUV crossed into the path of a 2003 Triumph motorcycle driven by 41-year-old John Thomas Agans.
Agans struck the Toyota and was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Lumpkin, where he later died from his injuries.
Fondren is accused of driving under the influence in connection with the crash and has been charged in relation to Agans’ death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
