Mr. Michael Lee Davis, age 32, of Dahlonega passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020.
Michael was born in Demorest on October 9, 1987. He was preceded in death by his brother Anthony Paul Davis and grandparents J.B. and Louise Davis. Michael loved to fish. His passion was working on or riding anything with a motor on it. He operated heavy equipment with Strickland and Son Pipeline. Michael loved and cherished his daughter Bella. He loved to ride the mountain back roads.
Survivors include his father and step-mother Anthony and June Davis, Dahlonega; daughter Bella Reese Davis, Cleveland; twin brother and sister-in-law Jamie Neal and Brook Davis, Dahlonega; brother Jacob Davis, Cleveland; mother Patricia Walker, Dahlonega; sisters April Gomez, Dahlonega, and Bree Elias, Dahlonega.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Marty Murphy will officiate. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. N. H. Satterfield, Jr., age 82, of Dahlonega passed away Monday, January 13, 2020.
Mr. Satterfield was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was born on October 12, 1937 to the late Newton Harry, Sr. and Arizona Meers Satterfield. N.H. was a handy man and worked in many places from farms to the U.S. Forrest Service in maintenance. He was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sister Corene Satterfield, Dahlonega; and several cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Shane Wehunt, the Rev. Steve Barrett, and the Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rosa Mae Haygood: Obituary

Mrs. Rosa Mae Haygood, age 89, of Suches, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020.
Mrs. Haygood was born in Suches on December 7, 1930 to the late Rev. Sherman David, Sr. and Thressa Mae Anderson Stover. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Haygood; daughter Ruth Shiflett; brothers Sidney Stover, John Stover, Sherman Stover, Jr., Herman Stover, Billy Stover, and James Stover; and sisters Ruby Nevell, Mary Garrett, and Mattie Dailey. Mrs. Haygood was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Harmony Church of God.
Survivors include her children Michael Fitzpatrick, Stephen Fitzpatrick, and Carolyn Shiflett; brother M.J. Stover; sisters Edna Griffis, Eva Nell Pruitt, and Carolyn Ray; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 PM Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Mrs. Haygood will lie in state at the church from 11:30 AM until the hour of the funeral. The Rev. Derrick Pruitt and Dr. Don Pruitt will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Amy B. Waters, age 85, of Dahlonega, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020.
Mrs. Waters was born in Alabama on June 11, 1934 to the late George and Wanda Mae Golden Mason. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Waters. Mrs. Waters was a faithful servant of the Lord and spent her time reading and studying the Bible. She loved to garden, cook and can fresh vegetables. Mrs. Waters was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Granny”.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-laws Shelia and Mike Adams, Marietta, and Myra and Joel Tapp, Gainesville; sons Michael Jackson, Carlton, and Wiley Sims, Athens; brother Marion Mason; grandchildren Susan Adams, Kathy and Daniel Ippolito, and Philip Tapp; great-grandchildren Emylia Ippolito, Noah Ippolito, Sophia Ippolito, Katherine Ippolito and Caroline Ippolito; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 PM Monday, January 20, 2020 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service hour Monday at the funeral home.

Hoyt Earl Robinson, 89, of Dahlonega, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2020 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Robinson is survived by his children Tim and Robin Milford, Scott and Margaret Hallam, Judi Flynt, and Walter and Patty Grindle of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Ferris Gilreath, Keene and Jennifer Flynt, John and Hillyer Peirce, David and Tara Nichols, Austin Grindle, Coleman Grindle, Alison Flynt, Ryan and Renae Milford, and Justin and Cheyenne Milford; great-grandchildren, Abel Gilreath, Ellie Flynt, Easton Flynt, Michael Nichols, Luke Nichols, Mary Anne Nichols, Flynt Greene, Lawson Greene, Phoenix Milford, Marley Milford, and Jayme Milford; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Mr. Robinson is preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise Floyd Robinson of Dahlonega, parents H.C. “Hokey” Robinson and Mattie Mae White Robinson of Gainesville, and son-in-law Ted Flynt of Dahlonega.
Mr. Robinson was born December 4, 1930 in Gainesville, Georgia. He grew up in the Sardis community, working with animals on his family’s farm. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War where he got to travel the world. He attended Young Harris College and served on the College’s Board for many years. Mr. Robinson married Mary Louise Floyd Robinson on July 21, 1956. She was the love of his life. They moved to Dahlonega, Georgia and they raised four daughters together. His children remember him as a kind, strong, and loving father who taught them how to love and support one another and to always put God first. He was a man of strong faith and values, always giving to others. He was a member of Dahlonega Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon. Over the course of his career, Mr. Robinson was a purchasing agent for the state of Georgia, dairy farmer, developer, builder, and business owner. Mr. Robinson was a leader in the community of Dahlonega. He served on numerous boards within the Lumpkin County area. He also supported the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, Sonshine Preschool, Jeremiah’s Place, and Lumpkin County Schools.
Mr. Robinson loved gardening and sharing the vegetables he grew with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing and picking blueberries with them on long, hot summer days. He also liked taking long walks in the woods around his property, telling stories along the way. He enjoyed learning about and teaching others about history and had a huge collection of books that covered various historical events and time periods. He also loved reading to his grandchildren and great grandchildren in his old rocking chair. He was happiest spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14 at 2:00 pm at Dahlonega Baptist Church. Dr. Steven Wright and Dr. William Hutcheson will officiate the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mr. Robinson’s life. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 13 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Dahlonega Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery. Joshua Terpstra Barry, 59 passed away January 5th. 2020 after an extended illness.
He was born in Long Beach, California and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was an avid Tony Stewart fan!
He is survived by his mother, Celeste Barry, brother Patrick, sister Deanna as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and a best friend Lisa Presley.

Jessie Jeanette Rider Martin: Obituary

Jessie Jeanette Rider Martin, age 79 of Austell, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020. She was born to the late Garmon Rider and Dollie Seabolt Rider on April 3, 1940 in Dahlonega, Ga.
Known as Jen, Nette, and Jeanette to the different sides of her family, she was known as Jessie by her medical family. She had been on dialysis for the last 15 years and had grown to love and be loved by all the doctors, nurses, techs and care providers that took such great care of her.
Jeanette was married to the late B. R. Martin for 27 years until his death in 1990.
Survivors include her daughter, Janice Martin, Austell, GA, two sisters, Mrs. Anne Gilstrap, Murrayville, Ga. and Mrs. Dene Chester of Monroe, Ga., and one sister-in-love, Mrs. Carolyn Martin, Dallas, Ga., as well as 19 nieces and nephews including special niece Lawayne Knight of Austell, Ga. who helped care for her during the last 15 years of her life. Several great nieces and great nephews, numerous cousins and various other family members also survive.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, B. R. Martin, her parents Garmon and Dollie Rider of Dahlonega, Ga, one sister, Shirley Fowler and two brothers, Jay Rider and Vernon Rider.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm at Dahlonega Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 pm.

Mr. John Gibson, age 81, of Dahlonega passed away Friday, November 29, 2019.
Mr. Gibson was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 2, 1938 to the late Leonard and Myrtle Butler Gibson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years Imogene Gibson. John worked in the poultry industry for many years. He was a member of Nimblewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his brother Jim Gibson, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Junior and Kathy Stover, Dahlonega; his special niece Tammy Stover, Dahlonega; and Glenda and Perry Weaver and his family at Foothills Retirement Home.

Mrs. Vickie Carol Davis, age 70, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Mrs. Davis was born in Lumpkin County on March 09, 1949 to the late Eugene Chapman and Dola Carder. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Carl “Pug” Davis, and her sister Kathy Pruitt. Mrs. Davis was a member of Mt. Gilead Church where she and Pug were married in 1967 and spent 38 wonderful years together. She was a loving mother and grandmother and her grandson affectionately called her “Mema”.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Emily and David Koleos; grandson Davis Koleos; and three granddogs.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, November 29, 2019 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Stephen Gerrells will officiate. Interment will follow in Davis Chapel Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Friday before the funeral service at the funeral home. Mr. Bobby Whatley, age 64, of Dahlonega passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2019.
Bobby was born in Atlanta, GA on December 4, 1955 to the late William Claude and Blanche Moore Whatley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother William Claude Whatley, Jr. Bobby worked at The University of North Georgia. He loved his job and in 2018 he received the distinguished North Star Award from the college. Bobby was a happy-go-lucky man, full of life and willing to help anyone he could. He will forever be remembered for telling his stories, though sometimes embellished in order to see you smile. Bobby was a caretaker to all.
Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law Susan and Brian Prosise, Flowery Branch; nephews and nieces Jonathan and Lisa Culver, Buford, Ashley Culver, Cumming, Cody Culver, Flowery Branch, and Chanece Turner, Roswell; great nephew Mason Culver; great niece Jordan Culver.
A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home with a reception to follow the celebration of his life. Friends are asked to come ready to share their story of their friendship with Bobby at the celebration.

Jody Ray Foster: Obituary
Obituaries January 4, 2020Mr. Jody Ray Foster, age 53, of Dahlonega passed away Monday, December 30, 2019.
Jody was born in Orlando, Florida on October 9, 1966. He was preceded in death by his dad, Carlos Foster. Jody was always a loving and supporting husband and father. He was the building blocks for his family and fought hard through his battle with cancer with the same mentality. Jody was not just a father, but also a coach for his children and the community. No matter the sport, he was on the sidelines or in the stands helping his children take the win, whether it was a home game or a game that was half-way across the country. To his children he was always the “fix it” guy, be it a broke down car or a broken washer. Jody not only loved his children greatly, but also his grandchildren who affectionately called him “papa”. He was deeply loved by his family and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife Andrea Foster, Dahlonega; son and daughter-in-law Jody and Taylor Foster, Dawsonville; daughter and son-in-law Haley and William Cain, Dawsonville; son and daughter-in-law Jordan and Lexy Foster, Dahlonega; daughter and fiancé Hope Foster and Caleb Frady, daughter Holly Foster, all of Dahlonega; grandchildren Aaliyah Frady, Jace Foster, and Landon Foster; mother and step-father Carol Ann Foster and Ray Nifong, Apopka, FL; father-in-law and mother-in-law Geri and Roy Flatt, Dahlonega; sisters and brothers-in-law Terri and Eric Lovestran, Carla and Gene Christian, Susan and Rick Anderson, Kate and Bob Keller, Carly and Charlie Mac; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
