Men’s Golf Breaks Records in First Place Finish at Full Moon BBQ Invitational

CALERA, Ala. – Logan Archer finished the two-round tournament with a five-under-par 137 as the University of North Georgia men’s golf team claimed the team title at the Full Moon BBQ Invitational, hosted by Montevallo, Monday.

The tournament win is the eighth in program history and the first time the Nighthawks have won the Full Moon BBQ Invitational since 2011. UNG shot a combined four-under-par 564, breaking the team 36-hole record by 14 strokes.

Archer also claimed the individual title, winning by two strokes over West Alabama’s Brandon O’Pry and Montevallo’s Gary King. The 36-hole total is good for second in school history.

Matt Elliott finished the tournament with an even-par 142, and Tanner Merck finished one stroke behind Elliott at one-over-par.

The Nighthawks will next host the Fourth Annual UNG Fall Invitational at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega. The 54-hole tournament will start with 36 holes on Monday, October 2 and conclude with a final round on Tuesday, October 3.
