Spivey Leads Rifle to Strong Season Opener at Ole Miss Open

OXFORD, Miss. – Sophomore Dakota Spivey helped lead the No. 20 University of North Georgia rifle team to an aggregate score of 4563, just eight points off the school record, at the Ole Miss Open Sunday at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center.
Complete team results will not be finalized until next weekend when the event two-week event is completed.
SMALLBORE
Spivey led the way for the Nighthawks with shooting a 569, with Ruthanne Conner just behind him with a 568. Tobin Sanctuaryposted a 563 – a personal record – to round out the top three for UNG. Jared Rice‘s 560 was also a personal best.
AIR RIFLE
Spivey and Conner both posted a strong 586 to pace North Georgia in air rifle. Rice and Sanctuary both achieved personal records at 572 and 571, respectively, the third and fourth highest scores for the Nighthawks on the day.
NEXT UP
UNG will travel to Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday, Oct. 8, for a solo match against the Wildcats, before returning to Dahlonega to host the first-ever Southern Conference rifle event on Saturday, Oct. 22.
