Larry “Dude” Curtis Black: Obituary

Larry “Dude” Curtis Black, age 59, a life-long resident of Dahlonega, GA passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017.

Larry was known for his big smile and joking manner. He loved telling stories from his past with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed sports; he really enjoyed coaching many girls and boys play softball and baseball. He was an avid hunter that enjoyed being outside and landscaping. He was known by many as an individual that could fix anything and do anything. He truly was a man with a heart of gold.

He was employed by Fieldale Farms for 41 years as an Assistant Live Haul Manager.

Larry was the son of the late Dewey Jefferson Black and Eva Martin Kuykendoll.

Larry is survived by his wife, Robin Black; children, Shane and Cindy Black, Dahlonega, GA, Cara and Brent Bowen, Cumming, GA, Candice and Marty Tow, Dahlonega, GA; brother, Richard Black, Buford, GA; sisters, Betty Sue Turner, Duncan, SC, Brenda Gail Black, Duncan, SC, Patsy Chambers, Leland, SC, Pam Lindsey, Greer, SC, Janice Black, Dahlonega, GA, Sheila Phillips, Woodruff, SC; grandchildren, Taylor Black, Austin Black, Andrew Adams, Kenady Adams, Olivia Bowen, Emily Bowen, Luke Bowen, Jonathan Black, Victoria Gilreath, Natalie Gilreath; mother-in-law, Edith Alford; and lifelong friend, Don Hester.  Numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Larry are scheduled for 1 PM Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, GA.

Rev. Kris Butler and Rev. Tim Sullens will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 2 PM until 9 PM, and again on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10 AM until time of service.
