Mrs. Mary Renfroe Vaughan: Obituary

Mrs. Mary Renfroe Vaughan, age 89, of Dawsonville, Lumpkin County, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at her residence following a period of declining health.

Born August 15, 1927 in Henry County to parents Edgar and Annie Bell Butler Renfroe, Mrs. Vaughan had lived in Lumpkin County since 2001 when she moved from Alpharetta. She was retired from Equifax where she served in the fraud department. She loved her flowers and gardening in general. She especially loved competing with her husband, Doyle Emory Vaughan, who predeceased her in 1995, to see who could grow the biggest tomatoes. She was also a ravenous reader having read many books during her lifetime. Mrs. Vaughan was a member of Dave’s Creek Baptist Church and had attended Dahlonega Baptist Church most recently where she was a member of the T.L.C. Sunday School Class. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law; Annette and Frank Manning, Dawsonville, Vickie and Steven Brumbelow, Dawsonville and Susan and Joe Chadwick of Snellville. She is also survived by sisters; Geraldine Choleva, McDonough, Marvine Wilson, Jacksonville, FL, brothers and sisters-in-law; Howard and Jessie Renfroe, Butts County, Richard and Zonnie Renfroe, Minter,GA and sister-in-law; Mildred Renfroe, also of Minter. Ten grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2017 in the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home with Mr. John S. Yates officiating. Interment will follow in Dave’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Forsyth County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 26th at the funeral home.
