Mrs. Hazel Rider Satterfield: Obituary

Obituaries

Mrs. Hazel Rider Satterfield, age 74, of Dahlonega passed away Monday, September 4, 2017.

Mrs. Satterfield was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County.  She was born on December 25, 1942 to the late Miller and Iver Jones Rider.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Satterfield; brothers, Henry Rider and Douglas Rider; sisters, Mamie Rider, Edith Rider, Flossie Rider, and Elise Blair. Mrs. Satterfield loved her flowers and she loved feeding the humming birds.  She had rabbits, squirrel, and deer that visited her almost daily.  About every kind of bird in this area came to her back deck everyday.  More than anything she loved her family and friends.  Mrs. Satterfield worked at Burlington Pine Tree Plant for many years.  She worked and retired from Southern Switches in Dahlonega.  Her co-workers were like a second family to her.  Mrs. Satterfield made you feel good just to be around her. After 12 years of a courageous battle with cancer, Mrs. Satterfield won her victory and went home to be with The Lord. There are no words to describe how much this beautiful lady will be missed. God’s speed Hazel.

Survivors include her son, Allen Satterfield, Dahlonega; son and daughter in law, Phil and Teresia Satterfield, Dahlonega; Granddaughter and fiancé, Amanda Satterfield and Edwin Chui; granddaughter, Brianna Satterfield; grandson, Andrew Davis, all of Dahlonega; brother, Ricky Rider; sisters, Jere Anderson, Ann Cook, and Bobbie Kimmel, all of Dahlonega; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Thursday, September 7, 2015 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell and The Rev. Ken Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in Dahlonega Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the funeral home.
