Celebrate Christmas in Dahlonega Saturday Dec. 2

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – For folks in one of Georgia’s most historic towns, Christmas is a month-long celebration held from Nov. 24 through Dec. 23. It was set in motion this year with the Lighting of the Square which took place last week. Now, the beautiful little mountain town is dressed in its holiday best and ready to welcome visitors.

Saturday is the big day as Santa will visit the Visitors’ Center Plaza from noon until 6 p.m. for pictures with the children. Then, be sure to gather in downtown Dahlonega for an old fashioned Christmas parade that starts at 4 p.m. to be followed by seasonal music performed by the Kurt Thomas Band.

There will be a free holiday concert at the Dahlonega United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. featuring a spirited array of music to ignite the Christmas spirit.

On Sunday, Santa returns to the Visitors’ Center Plaza from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for more visits and pictures with the children. The University of North Georgia Jazz Quartet will entertain at the Visitors’ Center starting at 2 p.m.
