Teenager charged with punching her stepfather

DAHLONEGA, Ga. — Sarah Bender, 17, has been charged with battery, family violence in connection with a domestic violence incident on April 25 at 4946 Camp Wahsega Road.

According to the arrest report by the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call at 8:33 p.m. Bender told Lumpkin County Communication, “I just beat the hell out of my stepdad.”

When deputies arrived, Bender immediately said she struck her stepfather, Chad Gilreath and stated he called her names, “So I hit him.”

According to the report, Gilreath had obvious scratches and bruises on his face. He and his wife, Carol Gilreath, said he had been arguing with Bender, calling her names and she stepped in to separate then and Bender began striking Mr. Gilreath in the face approximately five times.

Mr. Gilreath stated that he did not need medical attention. Bender was then transported to the Lumpkin County Detention Center.
