Commissioners to hear department budget requests Friday

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Lumpkin County Government will kick off the 2020 budgeting process Friday (June 28) at 9 a.m. when department directors present their budget requests to county commissioners.

The departments that will present on Friday include the Airport Authority, Coroner, Animal Shelter, Elections, Parks and Recreation, Tax Assessor, Planning Department, County Manager and Extension Office.

Elections and Voter Registrations, Tax Assessors and Animal Control offices will request commissioners to approve the hiring of new employees.

The first public hearing on the budget is scheduled for Aug. 6. If a tax increase above the rollback rate is anticipated, additional public hearings will be held on Aug. 8 and Aug. 20.
