Mr. Danny Ray Edwards, age 65, of Dahlonega passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019.

Mr. Edwards was born in Cumming, GA on August 11, 1954.  He was preceded in death by his father Homer Ray Edwards, uncles and aunts Nellie Fay Edwards, Clellan and Hershel Crow, Ethel Lou and Johnny P. Jones, Annie Kate and Allen Wigley, George Edwards, John L. Edwards; brother-in-law F.M. Beck .  Danny was a truck driver and loved his job.  Many of his friends will forever remember his CB handle “Getty Up Go”.  His favorite pastime was watching a good NASCAR race on TV.  Danny was affectionately called “Papa Danny” by his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters Cindy and Daniel Ayers, Dahlonega, and Kristi and Louis Smith, Madison; mother Aldona “Chris” Edwards, Murrayville; sister Barbara Black, Murrayville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; uncles and aunts Corene and James Jones, Robert and Gladys Edwards, Jean Beck, Alma Edwards; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Sunday, October 13, 2019 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home.  The Rev. Phil Gilstrap and the Rev. Jerry Abercrombie will officiate.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
