Two homes destroyed in Mountain View Campground fire

LUMPKIN COUNTY, Ga. – It took more than three hours and fire units from Lumpkin, White and Union counties to subdue a structure fire at two homes in Mountain View Campground just north of Turner’s Corner last night (Oct. 17).

Lumpkin County Fire Chief David Wimpy said both homes were destroyed but no injuries were reported

White County Fire Services spokeswoman Ana Newberry said White County received a request for mutual aid from Lumpkin County about 9:30 p.m. She added that both structures were fully involved when Tanker 6 arrived.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
