DAHLONEGA – Julianne Sutton became a member of the 1,000 point and 500 rebound clubs Saturday as the No. 12 University of North Georgia women’s basketball team took down Flagler in come from behind fashion, 66-56.
With a free throw in the early moments of the second quarter, the junior from Flowery Branch got the milestone point, but at that point, the Nighthawks were trailing the Saints thanks to a 22-11 first period for the visitors. Flagler continued to hold onto a sizable lead throughout the remainder of the first half, turning UNG over 16 times in the opening 20 minutes.
After halftime, North Georgia took much better care of the basketball, and it showed on the scoreboard with UNG ending the game by outscoring Flagler, 36-16, in the second half. Sutton entered the 500 rebound club with her 14th rebound of the night with just 25 seconds left in the contest, giving her the second milestone of the night.
NOTES
Sutton finished the game with 20 points, the game high in the category. Kara Groover finished with a career high 15 rebounds, while Abby Hubert and Faith Arthur had career highs as well, scoring 12 and 16 points, respectively. Macey Gregg also finished in double figures with 10 points.
Sutton becomes the first player since Kelsey Hutchins to have 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds. Sutton is now the 25th player in program history to notch 1,000 points.
The Nighthawks have now won 19 straight at home and are 24-1 inside the friendly confines of the UNG Convocation Center all-time. North Georgia has not lost a conference game on their home floor since moving into the facility.

The Nighthawks travel to Georgia Southwestern Wednesday night to take on the Hurricanes. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
