Nighthawks roll past Clayton State, 77-63

DAHLONEGA – Every University of North Georgia men’s basketball player that saw the floor scored as the Nighthawks pushed past Clayton State Saturday, 77-63, in the UNG Convocation Center.

Clayton State and the Nighthawks went back-and-forth in the first eight minutes of the game before the Lakers pulled away slightly, holding the lead for over 11 minutes in the middle of the first half. With the score at 32-27 in favor of Clayton State with under four to play in the opening stanza, UNG finished the first half on a 12-3 run to take a slight lead headed to halftime.

North Georgia gave up the lead just twice in the second half, both times falling behind by a single possession. The Nighthawks used a 9-0 run in the middle of the second half to put Clayton State away.

NOTES
– Zez Steeple led North Georgia in the scoring column with 15 points off the bench, while KJ Jenkins added 14. Ephraim Tshimanga put up 12 and Lanre Olatunji contributed 10 in 14 minutes of action.
– Ricardo Saams, Jr. led all scorers with 24 points while Bryan Hart added 23 for the Lakers.
– The Nighthawks got 47 points off the bench compared to just three for CSU.

The Nighthawks look to get back to .500 in league play with a Wednesday night matchup at Young Harris. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
