LUMPKIN COUNTY, Ga. – The Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners will hold a work session at 5:30 p.m., followed by a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday June 16 in the County Administration Building.
During the regular meeting, the Board is expected to vote on the initiation or renewal of several contracts, including one with the City of Dahlonega and the Enotah Judicial Circuit and another with Towns, White and Union counties for indigent defense services.
Another contract to be considered by the Board is a supplemental agreement with the Federal Transit Administration that will fund 100 percent of the local cost for transit retroactive from Jan. 20, 2020 through FY 2021, a savings of about $150,744 to county taxpayers.
In other business, county staff will present a plan for the development of Lumpkin County Park which, if approved, will then be presented to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the intent of developing a joint partnership to fund the development and operations of the park.
Staff will be requesting a modification of the voter-approved special purpose local option sales tax to include the purchase of a blower to follow behind one of the county tractors at a cost of $10,000.
The Lumpkin County Water and Sewer Authority will request commissioners issue a letter to Georgia Mountain Regional Commission asking for its assistance in the preparation of an application for funding to make improvements in the county water and sewer system.
There is also an alcoholic beverage temporary special event permit for Iron Mountain Park to sell beer/wine at their 4th of July event on Tuesday’s agenda. The event will be held July 3-5, at Iron Mountain Park, located at 116 Iron Mountain Parkway, Dahlonega.
