Lady Indians’ defense stifles Fannin Co. in 61-27 victory

The Lumpkin Co. Lady Indians defeated the Fannin Co. Lady Rebels 61-27 in their first game of the Kelly King Holiday Classic. The Lady Indians were led in scoring by senior Isabel Davenport, who scored 15 points. Sophomore Averie Jones also scored 14 points, and freshmen Mary Mullinax chipped in 13 points.

Lumpkin Co.’s defense allowed them to put the game away early. They didn’t allow a point in the first quarter and only allowed Fannin Co. to score one field goal in the first half. The Lady Indians’ led 24-5 at halftime.

The Lumpkin Co. offense started rolling in the third quarter. Mullinax scored seven of her points in the third quarter as the Lady Indians took a 42-13 lead into the final period. They held on to win the game 61-27.

Lumpkin Co. will host the Mill Creek Lady Hawks tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. in their second game of the Kelly King Holiday Classic.
