The Lumpkin Co. Lady Indians lost to the Cross Creek Lady Razorbacks 46-45 on Friday night in Dahlonega. Trailing 45-44 with 5.8 seconds remaining, Cross Creek moved the ball the length of the court for a game-winning layup as time expired.
Senior Isabel Davenport led Lumpkin Co. with 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. She scored 10 of her 16 points in the fourth quarter.
Senior Makenzie Caldwell scored 10 points, gathered 8 rebounds, and stole the ball 5 times in the game.

The Lady Indians opened the game on a 10-4 run to jump out to an early lead. Cross Creek responded by scoring 13 consecutive points on a run that stretched until halfway through the second quarter. Late in the half, Davenport hit back to back threes to close the gap. Lumpkin Co. trailed 18-16 at halftime.
Lumpkin Co. opened the third quarter on a 7-0 run to regain the lead. The Lady Indians were plagued by turnovers in the period, while allowed Cross Creek to respond again with another long run.
Trailing 32-26, Lumpkin Co. tied the game on an 8-2 run to start the fourth. With the game tied late in the game, Davenport hit one of two free throws after she was fouled on a layup attempt. After a timeout, Cross Creek went full court and hit an open layup to win the game 46-45.
The Lady Indians end the season with a 25-5 record, including 11-1 in Region 7-3A. They won their first region championship in 30 years and made it to the semifinals of the state tournament.
