UNG tennis teams earn selection to the NCAA Southeast Regional
INDIANAPOLIS – The University of North Georgia tennis teams were announced in the field to compete for a national championship Tuesday night as the selections to regional play were announced through a selection show on NCAA.com.
The men earned the No. 3 seed and will take on sixth-seeded Mount Olive in the opening round Friday. Columbus State, top-ranked in the country, was named the No. 1 seed, followed by Lander. Wingate and Tusculum were the No. 4 and 5 seeds, respectively.
On the women’s side, North Georgia was named the No. 4 seed and will take on fifth-seeded Erskine in the opening round Sunday. Flagler took the top seed while Columbus State was named No. 2 and Wingate No. 3.
Announced in April, UNG will be the host both the men’s and women’s Southeast Regional tournaments at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.
The winners from all eight regions nationwide in both genders will advance to Surprise, Arizona, May 18-21 for the NCAA Division II Tennis Championships.
