LUMPKIN COUNTY, Ga. — A Clermont man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Thursday evening near Turner’s Corner on SR 11 near the intersection of SR 9.
According to the accident report filed by Sgt. Joshua Hedden of Georgia State Patrol Post 37 in Cumming George Lloyd Payne, 75, was traveling south on SR 11 negotiating a curve to the left when his SUV traveled onto the west shoulder of the road.
Payne lost control of the vehicle, rotated counter-clockwise, crossed the center line, traveled off the east shoulder of the road and then into an embankment. At that point, the vehicle overturned.
