The National Weather Service Atlanta has issued a special weather briefing in expectance of upcoming winter weather to hit north Georgia this weekend.
They state the following in their briefing issued Thursday, January 13.
The potential for a significant winter storm is increasing for parts of north Georgia later this weekend including:
- A mix of wintery precipitation likely over a 24-hour period (snow/sleet > freezing rain/rain > back to snow) beginning late Saturday night, through Sunday night.
- Details on snow/ice remain uncertain but some parts of the area (northeast GA) could see > 0.25” of ice and/or 3+” of snow.
Changes in temperature can greatly influence the type of wintery mix that northeast Georgia will receive. Remain alert to changing weather patterns in your area.
