Dispute ends in neighbor’s hospitalization

Following a dispute, Sheriff Stacy M. Jarrard addressed residents’ concerns about safety:

I wanted to alert everyone to an incident that occurred earlier today in Lumpkin County. On 1/25/2022 at approximately 1:20 pm, the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office received a call for service that two neighbors had gotten into a dispute resulting in one being shot by the other. The victim of the gunshot was transported to a medical treatment facility where they are undergoing medical treatment. We have received numerous calls from people in the area concerned for their safety and I would like to let everyone know that there is a suspect in custody on this incident and there does not appear to be any danger for those in the area.
